How to Increase Business: The Story
Our client is a professional musician. We already knew each other as team members in a volunteer project and he told me that he needed help to increase the students in his school and he was interested in trying Google Ads. The year before he had tried also facebook ads but based on what he told me he had not seen any good results and he had really regretted spending his small advertising budget on it. He had also tried by himself Google Ads but this was even worse..(because experience is necessary based on my opinion and it is better to authorize a professional to do Google Ads for you). Continuing the story, the client had also recently moved his school to a new location in Thessaloniki making a big decision to stop the dancing lessons that he was also providing as a service in the past and focus only in music lessons. In addition to this he used to have a partner but he decided to stop the partnership and try his idea alone. My impression is that he was still very reluctant when we started the project but he needed help and he had to give it a try. He knew some SEO himself but as proven later on really not enough to be able to do the SEO in a proper way. He already had a wordpress website that he had built by himself for which he was proud off but it was not bringing customers. He was ranking though in a good position for a few interesting keywords for his business but still the website was not converting.

The website’s redesign was ready at the end of August 2017 (a month after we started the project) together with a lot of new content written based on SEO rules. This was extremely necessary for Google Ads (Adwords) to bring results. During the same time we optimized also the local presence of the business online (you may see the results immediate impact here) and then at the 28th of August we started running Google Ads. We had to do this fast as such type of schools gain most of their clients in September to October. The combination of all these steps brought the desired results. 2.5 months after we started running Google Ads the client informed me that his school was full! We helped him gain 40 new students (based on his estimations) and he was extremely satisfied for this result which made us also very happy. The photos below show partly the results from the website redesign (before and after). There was a lot of changes made in the menu, the url structures, content, presentation of services etc. It was absolutely a must!

Website’s Google Organic Traffic
For a small local business that wants to find people who are willing to study music and singing it is a great advantage to have google sending it on average 550 users per month (on high pick months) or approx. 350 users per month (on low season months). Because these are users who search in google to study music and by keyword combinations like ‘instrument type + lessons’. This traffic is already too much for a small local business to handle. But in anycase, it is good news for all of us! 🙂
The graph above illustrates a comparison between the clicks the customer was receiving from Google maps before we optimized the website and his google maps account. The increase in the traffic from Google maps was immediate and it is shown in the September 2017 results. The traffic since then from Google maps has kept the increased levels and if you consider that the stats in 2018 illustrate the summer months (until 27th August 2018) you can imagine what will happen in September! I will add one more image in a couple of months to present also this.
The client is getting ready for one new music school year. I do not think he will need us this year as he is already too busy! But, in the case he will proceed and double his business in terms of classrooms and teachers (which is something he is working on) we will probably be asked to help him again to fulfill all the classes.
